It's easy to assume any tool that takes online bookings does the same job. In practice, getting discovered, taking a booking online, and running your capacity well are three separate problems — and a tool built for one of them doesn't automatically solve the others.
Listing marketplaces
A marketplace lists your campsite alongside many others so campers can discover it while browsing. That reach usually comes with a commission or fee on every booking, and guests often complete checkout through the marketplace itself rather than through you — so you don't fully own the guest relationship, and switching marketplaces can mean rebuilding your visibility from scratch.
Basic booking systems
A booking calendar or reservation tool lets you accept bookings and take payment online, which is a real improvement over managing everything by phone and email. On its own, though, a basic booking system doesn't help campers find you in the first place, and it typically does nothing to help you use the capacity you already have more effectively.
